Making Learning Fun
3rd grade students and teachers took time on Thursday to have fun with reading and literacy. When you learn about author’s purpose, you get “PIE”ed!


The Akron Junior High had their Fall Festival Thursday night. The students had a wonderful time dressing up, dancing, playing games, and doing a little karaoke.

166 Akron Rams received perfect attendance for 1st quarter. They were treated to a brownie, ice cream, and a movie. Congratulations Rams!


The 7th grade class led the morning pledge of allegiance the last two weeks. Thursday morning they finished strong with leading the school fight song. Awesome job Rams!

Congratulations Paula McGuire for receiving the “Special Advocate of the Year Award” this evening at the annual Colorado Association of Gifted & Talented Conference.
The Akron School District has many students and teachers who have benefited from Mrs. McGuire’s work as our BOCES Gifted & Talented Coordinator. She also serves at the state level as Gifted Education Regional Consultant.

Perfect Attendance
163 Akron students were at school everyday durning the first quarter of school.

1st through 4th grade students that reached their AR goals for the first quarter were treated to a donut breakfast.


Animal Science students had fun in class today. The class is currently going over the swine industry and are discussing identifying pigs. They made head bands and had to notch them according to their litter and piglet number. Then, students went around and identified each other to test their knowledge.


Attention Akron Ram volleyball and football parents! This Saturday is parent recognition sponsored by the Booster Club. Volleyball parents will be recognized between the JV and Varsity games and football parents at 2:30PM prior to the football game.

The Akron Ram football team played tough Friday night against Caliche before surrendering some late touchdowns. Final score Caliche 34 Akron 6. The Rams will look to rebound at home against Haxtun on Saturday.

AKRON ELEMENTARY LITERACY NIGHT
A big thank goes out to Literacy Teacher, Mrs. Lautensock for organizing and facilitating a wonderful literacy night! Elementary teachers each had an activity to share in the “carnival style” setting that celebrated literacy. We also want to say thank you to our Akron elementary parents for bringing your children and taking part in this event.
