There has been a schedule change with HS Volleyball tonight. Caliche is unable to host so Akron will now host Haxtun for a V contest tonight starting at 5 PM.
Our Adaptive Sports Team had an awesome day in Brush playing basketball against Brush and the Northeast Coyotes. A huge thanks to coaches Janea Lucero and Darin Baker along with partners Grayson Pachner, AnneLise Glosson, and Nadalyn Poss. Please enjoy the pictures of their day.

Students from our Job Skills class prepared, shopped, cooked, served, and cleaned up after the meal for Meet and Eat on March 4th. These same students and teachers will be preparing and serving another Meet and Eat lunch this Thursday, March 25th at the Akron Community Center. The meal will be served at 12 (noon) and the cost is $5. Reservations can be made by calling the senior center at 970-345-6391.
Akron Ram Zach Bowin participated in the State Spelling Bee on March 13th. The spelling bee was conducted on-line this year. Zach finished tied for 36th place out of 181 spellers across the state.
Great job Zach!

The Boston History Trip students gave a presentation to the Lions club about their upcoming 2022 trip to Boston. The Lions club has awarded the students $900 to help pay for expenses. The students would like to extend their appreciation to the Lions Club for their generosity.

Akron School District hosted our annual Spelling Bee competition today. Spelling test were given to our 5th - 8th grade students last week to see who qualified for todays oral round. It took 22 rounds to find a winner! Congratulations to both Parker Molt and Zachary Bowin for making the finals with Zach representing Akron as our Spelling Bee Champion. Zach advances to the Virtual State Spelling Bee competition on March 13, 2021. Congrats to every student who participated and especially to our winner! A big thanks goes out to Ms Hernandez, Ms Sampson, Ms Randel, and Ms Weers for organizing and judging the spelling bee.

Akron Spelling Bee 2021
We will be holding our school Spelling Bee on Tuesday February, 23 @ 9:15 in the fieldhouse doors will be opened at 9:00. Parents and family members are welcome to attend and are asked to use the activity entrance of the school. We ask that visitors sit on the visitors side, east side, in the fieldhouse as well as social distance as much as possible. Masks are still required and we ask that you wear them for the duration of the activity, even if you are sitting in the stands and socially distanced. Our students' safety is our main concern.
