40 FCCLA students and Mrs. Hall, enjoyed attending Fall Leadership Conference this week. Highlights of the day were listening to the guest speaker who was a migrant worker, abused as a child, became a gang member, was an alcoholic, quit school, went to jail, got his GED, went to college in his 30's and is now a neuroscientist. His message was:
Mistakes do not define you.
You are worthy.
Dream big!
Students rotated through 5 stations learning about family, career, community, leadership, and positive mentality. Officers, Lluvia Arteaga, Zaya Wells, Alia Winter and Tristan Hall lead the positive mentality station, that Akron was in charge of. Students also made and brought home hygiene bags to give to those in need. To end the day, they watched Inside Out 2 at the Yuma Theater, enjoyed Dairy Queen treats and headed home.
The Akron School District had an awesome evening introducing our National Honor Society inductees. NHS has not been in our system in quite a few years and we are so excited to start the next chapter of recognition for our kids. Congratulations RAMS!
