On Thursday, our 1st graders took a field trip to Wray to the Fish Hatchery, had lunch at the Rainbow Park in Wray, and then visited Mr. Bledsoe’s home to learn about fossils and dinosaurs.

Administrative Professionals Day was yesterday, April 21st.
Anyone who has worked in a school knows just how valuable administrative professionals are to the operation of a school. We are blessed to have three amazing ladies working in these positions at our school district. Thank you for everything you do for our students, staff, administrators, and families. Congratulations to our Akron Lady Ram volleyball team and coaches for their 3-0 win on Wednesday night at Caliche. The win improves their season record to 7-7.

NJC Night at Akron High School
WHO: Students currently in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade wanting to take college course concurrently with NJC
WHEN: Monday, April 26, 2021 from 6:00pm-7:00pm
WHERE: Library
Representatives from NJC will be in Akron to discuss college credit opportunities that can be taken concurrently while students are still in high school. Classes can be for students pursuing four-year degrees, associate’s degrees, or planning to go directly into the workforce.
NJC is working on some great programs:
• Certified CNA
• Wind tower program
• Diesel mechanics
• Welding certificate

Update from Akron FBLA Advisor, Ali Houston on their trip to Denver and state results:
The pandemic might have slowed us down, but it hasn’t stopped us. Today (April 20th) was full of behind the scenes business tours, TopGolf, cookie decorating, swimming, and then celebrating accomplishments with an overnight trip. I am so blessed to be able to work with these kids everyday! So proud of them and their persistence.
Sara Wylie has done an amazing job as State President. It was a hard year and she continually pushed herself to make the best out of a bad situation and move FBLA forward.

Adaptive Basketball- Northeast Coyotes vs. Akron Rams
This afternoon’s game was a great celebration of adaptive players, parents, partners, coaches and school spirit. Thank you to the fans from all over northeast Colorado and the students who cheered these athletes on while they played on Monday.
Akron High School has two football players, Grayson Pachner and Kacyn Kessinger, selected to play in the 8-man All-State game this summer. The game will be played on Friday, July 9th at 7 p.m. at Gilpin H.S. In Blackhawk, CO. Congratulations to both Grayson and Kacyn!! We are proud of you!

3rd Grade Visits Akron Airport
After studying Aerospace, Randy Hayes, of Hayes Aviation, gave our 3rd graders a tour of the Akron Airport last Wednesday, April 14th.
The Akron Child Find event planned for today at the school has been postponed to May 7th due to the snow and adverse road conditions. Please look for more details about this event on our Facebook page and website in the weeks to come .
Due to the possibility of adverse weather conditions this evening we are postponing the bonfire and movie until another date. We will not have these Akron Strong activities after tonight's HSVB contest. Please come out and support our girls. GO BLUE!
