Dear Akron Ram Bus Route Families,
First, thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we have navigated challenging weather and road conditions this past year together. We do want to inform you that we face an additional challenge this year with providing our bus route service to you. We have never had an abundance of substitute bus drivers, and this year our numbers are even lower, and currently, we have two substitute drivers and only one available this first month of school. We have worked hard over the years not to interrupt our service and will continue to do so. We may encounter times when we must cancel a route and need you to deliver and/or pick up your student. We will give you as much advance notice as possible when this happens. Given the state and nationwide shortage of school bus drivers, we feel very fortunate to have our current staff of bus drivers, and we are working on attracting others to train and become drivers for our district. Thank you in advance for your understanding, and if you have additional questions, please contact me here at the school at 970-345-2053.

The Akron School Staff/Former Staff Dinner will be held tonight, Wednesday, August 9th, at the Washington County Event Center. We look forward to seeing all current and former staff and current and former board members. Social at 6 p.m., with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m.
This is the last week to pick up registration packets. Forms need to be completed by Registration on Monday, Aug 7th.
Reminder: Registration packets will be available starting today, July 24th.
New student registration will be July 24th & 25th (not Pk-K) 9:00-4:00.
Returning student registration will be August 7th (9:30-12:30).
WE ARE EXCITED FOR A GREAT 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR!
Reminder for senior athletes,
Senior banner photos will be this Saturday, July 22nd at 1 PM. Meet at high school and bring golf club/bat-glove/wrestling headgear-shoes/pom-pom/letter jacket...balls will be provided. Excited for the 2023-24 school year!

Congratulations to Mrs. Janae Lucero and Melody Lundquist for being Outstanding Paraprofessionals recognized by our NEBOCES. Here is what was said about these two ladies.
"This para team has gone above and beyond for their students. They have made it possible for the school to go to an inclusive model for special educations students. Often times they are tasked with multiple responsibilities and they are always willing to work hard. Their flexibility is unmatched, they will go into any classroom and help with any instruction. They take the initiative to help any student, prep curriculum, and give input in curriculum and instruction. They have been tasked with a very challenging group of students and their students have grown tremendously. I firmly believe that this group of paraprofessionals is unmatched in work ethic and willingness to help."
We are so blessed to have these two ladies in the Akron School District. Great Job Mrs. Janea Lucero and Mrs. Melody Lundquist!

Storm/Mud Routes
The recent moisture is a blessing to our pastures and farmland. Unfortunately, we still have some roads in our district that need some additional drying time and repair. We have consulted with the county and per their recommendation, we will be on storm/mud routes again tomorrow, May 16th.
We want to thank the Akron Booster Club for their work and thoughtfulness of our students with concern to the EOY Athletic Banquet. They are moving the banquet to Sunday May 21st at 5 pm so we all can go support our track and baseball teams. See the attached flyer for more details. Great Job RAMS!

Incoming 12th grade students & parents - due to the conflict with the sports banquet on Wednesday, 5/17, 12th grade orientation will be split into two sessions.
Spring sport athletes and parents should plan to attend orientation on 5/17 at 7:00am-7:45am in Mrs. Houston's room. Please plan to use the side door by Mrs. Houston's room for the meeting.
All other students and parents should plan to attend orientation on 5/17 at 5:30pm-6:15pm in Mrs. Houston's room. Please plan to use the cafetorium doors to get to Mrs. Houston's room.
11th Grade Parents and Students, 12th Grade Orientation has been moved due to weather last night to Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 at 5:30 pm in the cafeteria. Please let us know if you have any questions
