Three AHS Seniors Named Boettcher Semifinalists

Three seniors at Akron High School have recently been notified they
have been named semifinalists for the 2019 Boettcher Scholarship.

Cheyenne McGuire, Kate Pachner and Derrick Poss are each one of 300
chosen semifinalists in Colorado. All semifinalists were notified of
their status through the online system and must now submit three letters
of recommendation by mid- to late-December. Approximately 100
finalists will be interviewed at the Boettcher Foundation in March.
Soon after the finalist interviews, the 42 winners will be notified,
selected from the initial pool of applicants, which is typically around
1,500.

The Boettcher Scholarship is one of the oldest and most prestigious
merit-based scholarships in the state of Colorado. The Boettcher
Scholarship covers the cost of a scholar's tuition, fees and books for
eight semesters/12 quarters at approved Colorado four-year universities
or colleges. Additionally, Boettcher Scholars also receive a living
stipend.

The Boettcher Foundation Scholarship selection committee judges each
student on superior scholastic ability, evidence of leadership and
involvement, service to community and school and outstanding character.
