Mrs. Dreitz Awarded $20,000 Grant for Ag Department

Akron High School's Ag teacher, Mollie Dreitz, has been awarded a $20,000 Nathan Yip Foundation Grant.  Dreitz applied for the grant in the middle of March.  The Nathan Yip Foundation supports schools, teachers, and students in Colorado's rural communities through its Rural Education Partnership Program.  The grant only takes requests from rural schools and BOCES in Colorado.  Grant amounts typically range from $1,000 to $30,000.  Each project may receive grant funds for up to three consecutive years.

"The grant will be utilized to purchase construction equipment, which will be essential for the implementation of a Construction Science program four our school  This fall, 11th and 12th grade students will have the opportunity to take a Construction Science course in which they will get hands-on experience at various job sites within the community.  The Nathan Yip Foundation graciously granted the Akron School District $20,000 for this endeavor," Dreitz said.

Congratulations Mrs. Dreitz and Akron High School for receiving this grant!
