STUDENT DATA COLLECTED & MAINTAINED BY THE AKRON SCHOOL DISTRICT

Akron School District R-1 takes seriously its obligation to protect the privacy of data collected, used, shared, and stored.  These pages contain state and federal policies the Akron School District adheres to, data privacy and security procedures, as well as guidance and resources for various stakeholders. 

The Akron School District Board of Education has adopted policies relating to student and data privacy and safety.  The relevant board policy and regulation on student data privacy are JRCB and JRCB-R.

In order to provide a quality education and comply with state and federal laws and the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), the Akron School District collects and maintains the following student data:

  • The student information listed here plus locally administered assessment data.

  • Parent/guardian/emergency contact information for communication between school and home.

HOW AKRON USES AND SHARES STUDENT INFORMATION

The Akron School District uses and shares Student information in the following ways:

  • To improve instruction and academic achievement

  • To fulfill state and federal reporting requirements

  • For accountability purposes

  • Teacher evaluation purposes

WHAT SCHOOL SERVICE PROVIDERS DO WE CONTRACT WITH?

A School Service Contract Provider is an entity that provides a service subject to a formal, negotiated contract.   Effect August 10, 2016 for any new or renewal contracts, Contract Providers must agree to comply with Colorado Revised Statutes sections 22-16-108 to 22-16-110.  Contracts available upon request.

On-Demand Service Providers (ODSP) by definition are the agreements that happen before installing an app or extension in your Chrome browser, or before installing an online software program. Our list can be located here. This list is in progress and is continually being updated.  

NOTICE TO ON-DEMAND SCHOOL SERVICE PROVIDERS: If the Akron School District ceases using or refuses to use an on-demand school service provider pursuant to C.R.S 22-16-107, the name of the on-demand school service provider will be posted along with any written response that the on-demand school service provider submits. The Akron School District will also notify CDE, which will post the same response on its website.
